Rose and Roots
Rose & Roots is a singer-songwriter duo composed of Elisa Rose Shaw and Robby “Roots” Marcheterre, longtime residents of the East Shore of Kootenay Lake, B.C., Canada.
Since the spring of 2024, the pair have been writing and producing their own blend of reggae and pop. Their songs tell stories of adventure, love, encouragement—and occasionally a little mischief—creating music that is now ready to be shared with the world.
Rose & Roots have collaborated with world-class artists, including the horn section from Antidoping, Mexico’s premier reggae band. Their song “Don’t Be Afraid” features conscious vocals from Jamaican-Canadian reggae artist Culture Brown, while “Ride” includes a guest appearance by Antidoping’s lead singer, Pepe Grela. Their dancehall track “Studio Tonight” showcases Mexican rapper Bolillo delivering rapid-fire verses.
Backing the duo is a band of seasoned musicians: Ben Johnson on drums, Bob Lively on keyboards, Davidian Chorley on saxophone and flute, and Chris-I Shortall on guitar. Robby Roots anchors the sound on bass, while Elisa Rose leads with vocals, guitar, and melodica.
