To say Starbelly Jam is ‘Family Friendly’ doesn’t nearly do it justice. We are Family CENTERED. The festival was conceived with families in mind, unlike some festivals, kids aren’t an afterthought here. Imagine a site that is safe, not too big, with hundreds of other kids to play with, a world-class natural playground right in the grounds and fantastic children’s entertainment scheduled from morning wake up right up until bedtime.
Maybe you used to love going to summer music festivals when you were younger and carefree, and now you have kids you can’t imagine how you can still get a festival fix that will fill your bucket and theirs. Starbelly Jam Music Festival is your answer! Our just-right-sized festival is beautifully set up for you.
Whether you come as a group of families or as a single parent and child – your children are almost guaranteed to make friends during the festival, whether standing at the water table in the Milky Way area, on the legendary Merry-go-Round (where kids like to go round in circles for hours on end), or in the audience at a magic show, or making crowns at the long well-stocked craft tables, or in the audience at the storytelling tent.
Perhaps you have an early waking baby, toddler or preschooler…come and start your day with a rattle and shake at our morning parent/child music and movement workshop, followed by a yummy crepe from the food vendors. During the day you and your kids might want to enjoy taking in some Storytelling in a giant inflatable pod, a puppet show, or a kid-friendly all-ages musical act on the Moonbelly Stage. Or like many Starbelly parents – you might spend long parts of the day sipping a cool drink and eating noodles in the hazy heat, sat on a blanket, visiting with friends while your kids play hard in our newly created and amazing ‘Enchanted Playgarden’ that, during the festival could better be called a ‘Play-Ecosystem’! It’s a beautiful thing to watch so many kids immersed in play all day long; spinning on the merry go round, creating dams and channels and digging in the water and sand feature, sliding and scrambling down our hills and slides – it’s the magical gold-dust childhood is made of.
If you are a nursing mother you will find a quiet, comfortable and welcoming area in the Milky Way Nursing and Chillout Station, which sits in a shady spot close to lots of other relatively calm sensory activity stations like painting, bubble and water play, ideal for toddlers and preschoolers.
Got pre-teens or teenagers? They might enjoy spending time making costumes and trinkets in our amazingly well-stocked craft and costume making area. Or they might join an informal game of soccer being played in a quieter corner of the festival. For teens, we offer a special ‘lightly supervised’ Teen Tipi, for chill out, crafts, challenges, and games.
Whatever your family looks like, we can guarantee our festival will have something for each of you. And by the end, as you are packing up your stuff, you will understand why so many families look forward to Starbelly Jam every summer. It’s family memory-making at its finest.
