Twin Fiddles
Saskatchewan / Nova Scotia
Date and Time TBA
Twin Fiddles is the powerhouse pairing of award-winning Canadian fiddlers JJ Guy and Gordon Stobbe. Blending lead and harmony lines in the traditional twin fiddle style, their original tunes are inspired by the people, places, and stories from their travels across Canada and the North.
With five albums under their belts—including a Western Canadian Music Award-nominated release—JJ and Gordon are beloved performers, composers, and mentors. Both are Hall of Fame inductees, and Gordon is a Member of the Order of Canada for his lifelong dedication to preserving fiddle music. Together, Twin Fiddles is a joyful celebration of Canada’s rich musical landscape.
Get ready to kick up your heels! Twin Fiddles will be hosting a lively, family-friendly dance during the festival that blends toe-tapping old-time country tunes with interactive group fun.
Expect a joyful mix of waltzes, two-steps, polkas, and Western Canadian pattern dances like the schottische, seven step, heel and toe polka, and butterfly. With a skilled dance caller leading the way, the evening will also feature classic group dances such as the Virginia Reel, Sweets of May—and if time allows, even some good old-fashioned square dancing!
No experience needed—each dance will be taught and rehearsed on the spot. While a few might be a bit tricky for the littlest dancers, most are perfect for all ages. Come join the fun—it’s more dancing, laughing, and community spirit than you ever thought possible!
